Easter Hope
The greatest symbol of hope in Christendom is resurrection, God's power to
raise anything and
anyone from the depths.
He is Risen
Jesus rose from death before anyone else knew of it. He rose
alone,
long before dawn, on the first day of the week after Passover in 30 a.d.
It was a new day, a new week, a new creation.
Jesus is Here, Resurrecting Broken Hearts
How can that desire, that longing be met? How can the desire to be
resurrected—to be delivered from hardness of heart—be fulfilled short of joining
a monastery?
Practicing Resurrection
When
I think about the resurrection now, I don't only think about what
happened to
Jesus. I think about what happened to his disciples.
The Light on the Water
Maybe for some, there's the glorious knock-you-off-your-donkey experience, but
that's never been my way; always for me, it's not the rainbow but the
groundwater quietly seeping up from sources I can't begin to imagine.
Guided Journaling for Easter
Taking time
to reflect in your journal
about your feelings
during the Easter season will
help you keep alert
to the signs
of resurrection and wholeness outside and
within.
The Easter Way of Life
But the Easter story is not only an experience, an event. It is a way of life. The resurrection of Jesus created the hope in Christians that death is never the end—resurrection is.
DEVOTIONS FOR EASTER WEEK
Scripture and devotions for Good Friday, Holy Saturday and the astonishing days of Easter week
WHILE IT WAS STILL DARK
Jesus' resurrection from the dead is not only a promise of raising our
mortal bodies and those of our loved ones after physical death, but more to the
point for living, it is a promise of the resurrection of our spirit when our
spirit is in danger of death in the here-and-now.
THE DEEPEST MYSTERY, THE HIGHEST HOPE
Therein is a great
line for Easter. And, it's a good line for the
story of your life and mine. How
will it unfold? How will it end? Will
there be a new beginning? "I don't know.
It's a mystery!"
THOMAS THE BELIEVER
Jesus' visit indulged Thomas, but more
importantly it showed the disciples
that falling short was okay; Jesus comes to each
and puts wavering belief back in balance.
LIVING THE RISEN LIFE
Sometimes when we see with our eyes and touch with our hands the fact of death
or failure or lost dreams, that for us is the end. But is that not a fitting
time to draw upon our belief? Or upon our desire to believe?
FINDING NEW LIFE IN A CELTIC EASTER
In a singularly emphatic manner, the tradition of prayer
from the
Celtic tradition of Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Brittany, Cornwall and
the Isle of Man rejoices in the resurrection.
EASTER MOMENTS
There are always circumstances in life that appear to be challenging God's presence, God's love, God's power. And yet, behind that mask, in the midst of all the world's suffering and turmoil, God's face is peeking out. Those are Easter moments.
